Specialist corrosion prevention company, Shropshire Galvanizers is pleased to announce that it has recently passed the requirements set out in BS EN 13438:2005 for powder coating over galvanized steel.
The company, which is a division of Hereford Galvanizers Limited, has been powder coating at its Oswestry plant since April 2011 and has been hot dip galvanizing to British Standard at its adjacent galvanizing plant since 1995.
Lee Leightwood, Works Manager at Shropshire Galvanizers said “We have always galvanized to British Standards and so decided after 18 months that the natural progression for our powder coating service was to follow suit. We are proud of the quality of both our galvanizing and powder coating and now have the certificates to prove it”.
The BS EN 13438:2005 standard covers aspects of the process such as the pre-treatment systems, colour accuracy, coating thickness, gloss levels and general integrity and appearance of the coating.
The powder coating facility has seen a steady rise in orders during its first two years of operation as more and more customers see the value of having a sole supplier for both galvanizing and powder coating. As a result of its success, the plant has recently added an additional shift in order to cope with the increasing workload.
